What is your role in the consortium, and what does your organisation specifically bring to the STICS project?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Our mission in the STICS project is to explore the potential for deploying smart systems for real-time energy resource management. Thanks to our AI platform, we can effectively uncover and utilise so-called \u201cbehind-the-meter\u201d flexibility \u2013 the potential of energy devices located directly at the end customer. Within the STICS project, we strive to actively support the concept of smart cities and municipalities. We can integrate data collected from advanced metering in public infrastructure into our AI-powered energy management and trading system (AI-EMTS). In doing so, we open the door for local governments to share data efficiently and optimise energy consumption. <\/p>\n\n

What have you managed to implement, develop or organise by roughly the midpoint of the STICS project \u2013 and what are you most proud of?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

In connection with the Horn\u00e9 Srnie Living Lab, we are completing a study focused on analysing energy data from this location. Its main contribution is the precise quantification of the potential for flexibility aggregation and verification of the infrastructure\u2019s readiness to operate as a virtual power plant. The data from this study will enable the municipality to optimise smart metering options, reduce overall energy costs, and effectively integrate local resources into the energy market. <\/p>\n\n

What do you plan to complete and deliver by the end of the project?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

By the end of the project, we plan to deploy and validate virtual power plant prototypes for flexibility aggregation under real-world conditions.<\/p>\n\n

How will these outputs affect the target group, and what innovation do they bring?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Deploying and validating product prototypes for a virtual power plant and flexibility aggregation under real-world conditions represent a key step that will make previously unusable electrical flexibility monetisable. Local governments will gain a tool for effectively smoothing demand peaks, known as peak shaving. Measurement data will no longer serve only for billing, but also as a basis for automated real-time control of energy flows.<\/p>\n\n

What has the STICS project brought to your organisation \u2013 and to you personally?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

STICS has enabled us to examine in detail and test in practice the management of \u201cbehind-the-meter\u201d flexibility at the municipal and public-sector level. Through intensive cooperation with the academic sector and innovation leaders in the consortium, we have connected cutting-edge research with commercial practice, creating the basis for a long-term innovation ecosystem. Personally, I find it inspiring to see how complex data, algorithms, and predictive models can be transformed into concrete value \u2013 a tool that helps a municipality save money, make energy consumption more efficient, and contribute to the green transition. <\/p>\n\n

What experience have you gained in the project? What would be worth developing further, and what would you do differently next time? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n

What has been extremely valuable for us is that we have learned in detail about the specifics of collecting and integrating smart-metering data in public infrastructure, and identified the most common barriers to uncovering \u201cbehind-the-meter\u201d flexibility. Next time, in the earlier stages of the project, we would place even greater emphasis on the readiness of the hardware and metering points on the municipality\u2019s side, which would speed up the collection of high-quality data for AI models. <\/p>\n\n

In your view, what is the greatest added value of the STICS project?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The main added value of the STICS project lies in linking academic research and private-sector innovation with the real needs of local governments, thereby creating a fully functional ecosystem in practice.<\/p>\n\n

What should remain and keep working even after the project ends?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

We would like digitalised energy management and the use of smart metering in public infrastructure to continue developing in Slovakia in the future, enabling municipalities to continuously monitor and manage energy consumption in real time even after the project ends. It is important to show that innovation is possible even in an administratively and bureaucratically complex environment such as local government. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
