SMART CITIES KLUB

ABOUT US

Smart Cities Klub (SCK) is an independent platform, a civic association of towns, municipalities, regions, experts, universities and innovators. For more than ten years we have been helping local authorities tackle their biggest challenges, introduce innovation and improve quality of life for their residents. We are the connecting link between local authorities themselves, public institutions, businesses and the academic community.
Today we bring together 24 local authorities from across Slovakia and also work with international partners, for example from Scandinavia and the Netherlands.
What we do
•     Networking — themed workshops, Mayor's Café
•    Education — Smart City Academy, SCK Summer Schools
•    Living Labs — pilot projects in real cities, effective use of financial resources
•    Awareness and promotion — Happy Smart Cities magazine
•    Conferences — twelve editions of Slovakia on the Road to Smart Cities
•    Projects — Horizon, LIFE, EIT Urban Mobility, URBACT
Our slogan
Connecting local authorities for a sustainable and better future.

OUR ACTIVITIES WITHIN THE CONSORTIUM

Within the consortium we focus on dissemination and communication, innovative public procurement for local authorities, and the development and scaling of Living Labs as testing and reference environments for new solutions. We contribute to building the innovation ecosystem and developing the Smart Cities concept, provide input for data-driven policy, support smart mobility and work on creating virtual platforms that connect innovative solutions for municipalities, towns and regions.

BENEFITS OF OUR OUTPUTS AND TARGET GROUPS

Our outputs are aimed primarily at local authorities involved as STICS Followers, who will gain inspiration, motivation to change and the chance to test or transfer specific solutions into practice. They also have a significant impact on students and active citizens involved as STICS Explorers, whom we will enable to realise their own ideas, gain practical experience and become part of the innovation environment.

Founder of Smart Cities Klub

What do you expect from the STICS project?

Above all, we expect STICS to strengthen local governments — giving them access to innovative solutions, data and tools that will allow them to manage development more effectively, improve residents' quality of life and build the competitiveness of their regions. Verím, že projekt prinesie nové impulzy pre spoluprácu, zdieľanie skúseností a dlhodobú udržateľnosť inovačných riešení priamo v obciach, mestách a krajoch.

Who will be able to use your outputs, and when?

Our outputs are aimed above all at municipalities, towns and regions involved as STICS Followers, so they can draw inspiration immediately, test solutions and put them into practice. At the same time we want to bring students and active citizens into the innovation ecosystem as STICS Explorers, along with the business sector as STICS Collaborators, opening up space for them to co-create new models and solutions. The practical results will be usable during testing in the Living Labs and fully once the project ends, supporting decision-making, planning and the introduction of innovation.
