About us
Data from Slovak municipalities, towns and regions has been lying dormant. The Smart Transformation and Innovation Consortium Slovakia (STICS) is waking it up.
We bring together 24 international partners from local government, academia, business and the non-profit sector, and we are building an open ecosystem that will deliver, test, scale and implement innovation in municipalities. Our motto: "A short project with a big impact — STICS, join the progress."

Living Labs
STICS tests innovative solutions at 6 sites across Slovakia.
Each Living Lab is a real-life environment such as a municipal office, a school or a community, where new solutions can show what really works.
CONSORTIUM VOICES
Expectations for the project
prof. Ing. Anna Vaňová, PhD.
Project Coordinator
I expect that through research and the dissemination of knowledge, STICS will bring solutions leading to more effective and purposeful adoption of relevant innovations in local areas, and to greater public participation in the management of public affairs. Access to data will improve and functional, sustainable innovation ecosystems will be created.
Ing. Vladimír Jurík
Founder of the Smart Cities Klub
Above all, we expect STICS to strengthen local authorities, giving them access to innovative solutions, data and tools that will allow them to manage development more effectively, improve residents’ quality of life and build the competitiveness of their regions.
Michal Čiž
Team Leader, SAPIE
I expect the STICS outputs to deliver innovative and sustainable business solutions for implementing innovation in towns and municipalities. These will improve public services, advance sustainable energy, strengthen safety and make local government more efficient.
Tomáš Pavlík
Business Development Director, BVR / STICS Innovation Manager
I expect STICS to further develop our product – an interoperable data platform – and its use within innovation ecosystems. Our ambition is to connect the platform to other national institutions that support innovation and the use of data. The eventual goal is to grow the smart potential of Slovak municipalities and of the companies providing such solutions, with the potential to export our know-how and products to EU countries.
Dominik Čižik
Data Analyst, Town of Kežmarok
We expect STICS to deliver:
- Smart and green innovations applied directly in the urban environment of Kežmarok.
- Stronger cooperation between the town, academia, businesses and local communities.
- New data sets, methodologies and models for further projects and solutions.
- Better decision-making thanks to data and intelligent tools.
- Greater practical readiness of the town to face challenges such as climate change, energy poverty and social exclusion.
- Foundations for a long-term smart city ecosystem and the sustainable digital transformation of Kežmarok.
Maroš Finka
Professor, Director of SPECTRA CE EU, STICS Scientific Coordinator
We expect the project to strengthen cooperation within an innovative ecosystem that helps local authorities ensure quality of life for residents and the conditions for economic development, and at the same time to improve how the research and development capacity of SPECTRA CE EU is put to practical use in society.
